4 Tips For Getting The Best Image At Your Sneak Peek Ultrasound

If you are going in for a sneak peek ultrasound to get a picture of your baby, here are four tips that will help you get the best image and get the most out of your experience.

#1 Drink Before You Go

If you want to get a really clear view, it helps to be well hydrated. Before you go in for your appointment, have some water a couple of hours in advances. Then, right before you go in for your appointment, have another glass of water or juice. You don't need to drink so much that you feel like you have to cross your legs to hold in the urge to go to the bathroom though. Drinking fluids and being hydrated will help make your amniotic fluids inside of you more clear and make it easier to get a clear image.

#2 Eat A Little Snack

Before you head out the door to your appointment, it is a good idea to also have a little snack. It doesn't have to be huge; an apple or some popcorn or chips will do the trick. This will help ensure that you have enough energy for your appointment. Additionally, eating, even a little snack, can often make your baby be a little more active inside of you, which can make the ultrasound process a little more interesting and ensure that you get pictures of multiple angles of your baby.

#3 Dress In Clothes That Are Flexible

Check your outfit before you go out the door. If you don't want to have to change into a hospital gown for your ultrasound, make sure that you have on pants with a flexible band, such as athletic wear pants, or a skirt with a nice elastic waistband. A flowing shirt that you can easily pull up to expose your belly can also be helpful. Wearing flexible clothing will make the process of actually getting an ultrasound go smoother.

#4 Consider The Type Of Pictures

Finally, take into consideration the type of picture that you want to get. Your doctor will provide you with a range of weeks during which it is best to have an ultrasound performed. Generally, if you get the ultrasound done during the beginning of this time frame, you are more likely to get pictures of your body's entire body. If you really want an up-close picture of your baby's face that will really allow you to see its features, it is best to wait to have the ultrasound more towards the end of this period of time.
